Academic Curriculum
Content
Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire. By implementing a future-proof British curriculum adapted for global relevance, we ensure our students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, genuine curiosity, and creativity.
University Guidance
Like our global sister schools, we provide personalised university counselling to help students gain entry to prestigious institutions worldwide.
The Carrington Programme
Our Sixth Form enrichment scheme is designed to build life skills beyond the A-Level syllabus. It prepares students for university through a structured framework of project-based learning, leadership summits, global thinking initiatives, and the University Preparation Programme. A central requirement is the completion of a research project, such as the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification), which fosters critical thinking and academic independence. Upon completion, students earn the Carrington Award, recognising their growth in leadership, self-reliance, and vision.
Our Future-Proof Education
At Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok, we recognise that the leaders of tomorrow will not be defined merely by what they know, but by how they synthesise and apply knowledge in a rapidly evolving world.
Our Future-Proof Education is a fundamental rethinking of the curriculum, intentionally dissolving the artificial walls between disciplines to create a dynamic, real-world ecosystem of Learning.
This programme is a bold fusion of the analytical, the creative, the digital, and the human. It seamlessly integrates the cutting-edge tools of AI, technology, and engineering with the expressive power of art, music, and drama.
In parallel, it harnesses the grit and teamwork inherent in sports, the strategic acumen of entrepreneurship, and the moral purpose of community service. By weaving these diverse threads together, we challenge students to solve complex problems that defy singular solutions.
Our students do not simply study physics or practise the violin in isolation; they might lead a team to design assistive technology for a local charity, developing the prototype (Engineering & AI), creating a sustainable business model (Entrepreneurship), and producing a compelling media campaign (Arts & Drama) to launch it.
We are not just teaching students to use technology, but to lead with it; not just to perform, but to innovate; not just to compete, but to serve.
Our Future-Proof Education is the crucible where character, creativity, and capability merge, ensuring that every WASBKK graduate steps into the future not as a passive participant, but as a confident architect of change.
The Super Curriculum – Education Beyond the Classroom
Co-curricular Activities
One of the reasons Wycombe Abbey students achieve so highly in their academic endeavours is the many opportunities they are offered outside the classroom. The vibrant co-curricular programme perfectly balances the academically rigorous curriculum, which encompasses trips and expeditions, sport, music, drama, dance, art, engineering, and many more. We are incredibly proud of the energy and variety of clubs and societies at Wycombe Abbey schools, which are essential to providing the holistic education our students enjoy. The co-curriculum offers a great way for students to meet like-minded friends, discover their passions, and try something new, everyone is actively encouraged to get involved.
The world around us is changing rapidly, and our dynamic co-curricular programme will continue to evolve. As you will see from the following pages, life outside the classroom is exciting, varied, and future-focused. We will seek to broaden students’ horizons by providing a wealth of opportunities, such as cross-campus activities across our five international campuses, and encouraging our students to develop their current interests and explore new ones.
At WASBKK, we are committed to providing the same diverse and enriching co-curricular activities, societies, and clubs that have become a hallmark of our existing schools, as profiled in the following pages. Our programme will include a robust array of co-curricular activities designed to cater to a wide range of interests and talents, and to emphasise developing social and emotional skills, life skills, and mental health awareness.
Nurturing these aspects is crucial for the holistic development of our students. Through such activities, students will have the skills and a resilient mindset needed to innovate and lead in their future careers. By fostering these qualities, WASBKK aims to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are academically accomplished, socially responsible, and capable of positively impacting their communities and beyond. Our commitment to excellence and diversity in education will ensure that WASBKK becomes a beacon of holistic and forward-thinking education in the region.
Trips and Expeditions – Learning Locally and Globally
Learning about a subject outside the classroom brings it to life and helps students understand concepts in a real-life setting. We aim to create opportunities for our students to visit new places locally and overseas, exposing them to various cultures and traditions, exploring the past and motivating them for the future.
Academic departments will lead day and residential trips. These could involve a visit to the theatre locally, travelling to nearby national parks, where students need to be self-sufficient, or going overseas to visit places in Asia, Europe, or the Americas. Some trips target specific year groups, while others welcome mixed-age groups to enable friendships to develop across year groups.
Entrepreneurship
Our values of dynamism and innovation drive us to inspire students to be bold with their ideas and curious about their future. In order to inculcate a financial mindset in our pupils as early as prep school, we will provide forums in the future to enable them to make informed decisions about their next steps.
We strive to nurture the leaders of tomorrow for a global workplace, encouraging students to be open-minded and embrace change as it happens around them. The early years are for experimenting with their interests, and during Years 11, 12, and 13, students are exposed to structured business and career development opportunities.
It is critical to support and help guide students in their career planning and decisions, and our Careers programme aims to inspire and broaden awareness of possible future careers. The
programme includes the Careers Seminar, where students get to hear from alumni and other successful business people on their careers in selected industries, such as software engineering, acting, sports marketing, and investment banking, as well as the charity sector.
Another programme called “Future Ready” provides workshops on topics as diverse as the meaning of success, diversity in the workplace, the rise of freelancing, and flexible hours, how to discover and utilise transferable skills, and switching careers.
Co-Curricular
Art
Creating Beyond Boundaries
We encourage students to explore their creativity through various mediums, including painting, photography, fashion design, and digital art. Students are guided by experienced teachers who foster an environment of experimentation and innovation. The annual art exhibitions and competitions will provide platforms for students to showcase their work and gain recognition. The Arts curriculum develops technical skills and enhances students’ ability to express themselves and think creatively and critically about visual culture. This programme teaches students to push boundaries and create works that reflect their unique perspectives and talents.
Drama
Curtains Up!
Whatever students’ theatrical interest or experience, they will find a place in the theatre. Students may enjoy performing on stage, but they can also explore working backstage on lighting, sound, costume, and as stagehands. Alternatively, their creative flair may lead them to roles as writers or directors, developing leadership skills through these routes. Students learn to be adaptable, flexible, and collaborative so that they can achieve the desired performance outcome.
Music
Hitting the Right Note
Whether performing in an orchestra, singing in a choir, playing lead guitar in a band, or wanting to try something new, the Music Department will help students develop their musical skills and broaden their experience. All students will have access to instrumental music lessons, whether they are just starting out or have already gained grades in their chosen instrument, and the Music Department will provide a wide range of occasions to perform, from small lunchtime concerts to grand performances.

“After coming to Wycombe Abbey. I met more people who, like me, have a passion for music and love playing instruments. I also encountered teachers who are patient and skilled at guiding me on my musical journey. Gradually, I realised that learning an instrument doesn’t necessarily have to be about taking exams or having a utilitarian purpose to be meaningful. When you enjoy music, practising an instrument is inherently a joyful and relaxing experience that brings a great sense of fulfilment and satisfaction.”

Sports
We are committed to offering competitive and recreational sports for all. Students are encouraged to discover enjoyment through activity by engaging in a wide range of sports and plenty of choices each week. From gymnastics to basketball, and cross-country to cricket, everyone will find a sport they can thrive in.
All students are encouraged to attend training and will be able to represent the School or play in inter-school matches, gaining competitive experience. It is our aim that all our students will partake in sports fixtures through the school year whether at elite level or for the fun and enjoyment of participation. This exposure allows students to develop resilience, flexibility, strategic thinking, and collaboration, all fundamental transferable skills.
At WASBKK, our Elite Sports Programme is designed for dedicated student-athletes who aspire to compete at the national and international levels. In collaboration with Thana City Country Club, it is our intention to pursue elite sports programmes in key sports, such as golf and tennis.
We bridge the gap between rigorous academic study and professional-level training, ensuring our students have the support to excel in both.
Swimming
Our swimming programme is anchored by world-class aquatic facilities, including an Olympic-sized 50-metre indoor pool and a 25-metre training pool. We offer year-round, intensive training led by elite coaches.
Golf
With direct access to the Thana City18-hole championship golf course and professional driving range, our golfers receive individualised coaching from PGA-certified professionals. We provide mentoring for our students with a structured route into regional and international junior circuits.
Basketball
Our elite basketball programme is centred on our spectacular professional-standard indoor basketball arena. Pupils engage in intensive training with a robust schedule of local and regional tournaments that allow them to develop the court intelligence and teamwork necessary for high performance.
Tennis
Players in our programme engage in a specialised curriculum that includes intensive squad training, matchplay analysis, and strength and conditioning work designed for court agility. We offer opportunities for international training camps and exposure to high-level competitions, preparing our pupils for collegiate-level tennis and beyond.
Societies and Clubs
A Place for Every Passion Wycombe Abbey
Wycombe Abbey Schools have on average per week over 60 different clubs and societies covering a range of areas, and if one doesn’t exist already, the students are encouraged to set it up and lead its development. Our annual Societies’ Fair at the start of the academic year enables students to learn about what is on offer and register their interest to join. Societies are typically led by senior students with support from staff, offering leadership experience and opportunities for younger students to explore ideas in depth and strengthen bonds across year groups. Clubs are led by teaching staff, providing structured environments for learning and engagement.

Pastoral Care, Safeguarding, and Wellbeing
We believe providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment in which every individual is happy, safe, and respected is the foundation of everything else, enabling each child to build strong, long-lasting relationships, develop confidence and resilience, flourish, and fulfil their potential.
Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok’s priorities are to:
- Promote the sense of connection and community within and across School.
- Build on existing pastoral programmes and give students further opportunity to express their views and ideas.
- Prioritise a robust safeguarding culture which all staff understand and proactively engage in.
We will achieve this by:
- Connecting every member of staff (teaching and support) to a House.
- Seeking accreditation by the Wellbeing Award for Schools.
- Engaging with students’ views, particularly in relation to mental health and wellbeing to ensure our offering is relevant and effective.
- Developing counselling provision alongside the work of the Health Centre and the wider pastoral team.
- Celebrating the House family and promoting this internally and externally.
- Developing the tutor system under Heads of Year, which is specifically designed to guide each student to develop as an individual, achieve balance, and understand what is meant by personal success.
- Building on the existing Student Council and peer mentoring programmes.
- Developing a range of opportunities for students to be involved in community service across the School.
- Regular Wycombe Abbey International group level inspections.
